Castell Miquel is located in the heart of Mallorca’s UNESCO nature reserve, Tramuntana, close to the west coast. It is the only winery situated on a hillside.

Inspired by nature and the spectacular mountain range, this place is dedicated to beauty in many forms. Created by Prof. Dr. Michael Popp and his passion for nature have created a wine and art destination, surrounded by the harmony of Mother Earth.

Castell Miquel was once created for the cultivation of vines: according to legend, an angel appeared to a Mallorcan farmer and advised him to plant a vineyard on this spot. The farmer followed the advice and the vines became, according to legend, the best on the island.

In gratitude, the farmer placed a statue of the Virgin in a nearby cave, which remains undiscovered to this day. Old plans for the estate do, in fact, contain references to a cave.

Professor Popp has decided to never give up the search for the figure. If the figure is found, the name of the next wine is set: “Cova Madonna”.
