NEMESIO

Nemesio is a tribute to the values of effort and work that make dreams come true. The dreams of Nemesio, a 6-year-old boy who one day dreamed of having a winery when he heard that his voice was more powerful inside a barrel.
At the end of the 80s, Nemesio Fernández began to recover abandoned vineyards and plant new ones, founding CASAR DE BURBIA and becoming one of the first people who believed in and committed to putting value on the wines of Bierzo.
Nemesio is a single-vineyard wine that comes from the San Salvador vineyard, planted more than 70 years ago by Nemesio, along a gentle slope that rises to 700 metres above sea level in the Barreiriñas area.
We wanted to make a wine of great elegance and complexity and to do so we only used grapes from the highest part of this vineyard, a micro-plot of just 0.4 hectares. The soils here are clayey, which gives the wine structure and a great fruit richness. The result is an elegant and balanced wine in which time, determination and experience play an important role.

Nemesio is a deep, smooth and delicate red wine. It combines aromas of wild berries, flowers and many spices that do not dominate. The palate is very balanced, and the time in the bottle makes the Mencía express itself more calmly.

Production

In order not to interfere with the subtlety and delicacy of the grapes that grow here, once they arrive at the winery, we carry out very short macerations and ferment with their own yeasts in small-capacity tanks. The idea is to obtain all the fruit and balance that San Salvador offers us, the most stable vineyard of all those we work with.
We then age the wine in French oak barrels from the forests of Allier and Tronçais for a period of around 18 months, always depending on the style of the vintage we are working with.
