TERRAMOLL (FORMENTERA VI DE LA TERRA)
Time goes by, but, everything is exactly the same in Terramoll as when we began to produce wine back in 2000: the same passion, care and dedication of a family to preserve such an old and well established tradition in Formentera as it is the cultivation of grapevines and winemaking. For this reason we have endeavoured to recuperate autochthonous grape varieties such as Monastrell and Malvasia as well as innovated with foreign ones such as Viognier, Cabernet sauvignon or Merlot. The result? A wide variety of wines, all of them have a strong Mediterranean character, but with different hints and features which make them unique and exceptional.
We own 13 hectares of vineyards with the following varieties: Monastrell, Merlot, Cabernet, Syrah, Viognier, Malvasia, Grenache Blanc, Muscat Blanc à petits grains. We also have 2 hectares of Monastrell planted on ungrafted root-stock. Our vineyards are located at La Mola, the highest point of the island, at around 200 meters high and are constantly bathed by saline winds.
In Terramoll we have spent many years committed to sustainability. Therefore, we work minimizing the use of natural resources and environmental impact. We currently have all our vineyards in dry land and we have never applied chemical products in the soil; neither herbicides nor mineral fertilizers. This makes our productions very limited. For some years now all our cultivated lands have been registered in Ecological Agriculture, therefore, we do not apply chemical synthesis, with the aim of preserving the microfauna, fauna and flora of a sensitive ecosystem like our island.
